In this session, Professor Carlota Perez, Honorary Professor at IIPP, discusses her research for the EU Funded ‘BEYOND4.0’ project and looks at the different ‘mission-orientations’ taken by governments during previous transitions, countering technological determinism with an argument for the powerful role of both state and society in determining a trajectory for the diffusion of each revolution. Her aim is to help MOIN members unpick the narrative of technological transition, and provide a broader criteria than the ‘Industry 4.0’ shorthand for shaping politics and policy making.
The Green Mission event series is a 3-day online event series from 8 – 10 February, which following on from COP26 and its urgent mandate, is dedicated to the theme of mission-orientated policy to tackle the climate crisis.
